Fine line tattoo in Prague
A fine line tattoo is a drawing built from thin, even lines, around half a millimetre wide, worked with one to three needles. No shading, no fill: the whole image holds on the line and on the space around it.
I draw every design from scratch for one person and never repeat it. I fit it to the anatomy and to how that part of the body moves.

What holds in a thin line and what does not
A thin line is at its best with geometry. Architectural forms, plants, constellations, lettering, single figures, delicate ornament: all of that reads well, because the eye follows the line and not the mass.
It cannot do volume. A face, drapery, a realistic hand, dense shadow: those need black and half-tones, which means black & grey. If your idea needs weight rather than contour, I will say so at the consultation rather than make a thin version of it.
I never make a fine line piece smaller than it needs to be. A line has to be able to survive ten years of your skin. When the motif is asked for at 2 cm, the answer is usually a different motif, not a smaller one.
How it ages
A thin line spreads. Pigment sits in living skin, and over years the line widens slightly; detail packed too close together slowly runs into a single mark. That is how the material behaves, and it is not something the artist did wrong.
What decides the outcome is spacing at the sketch stage, size, and placement. Forearm and upper arm hold a thin line best. Fingers, the sides of hands, feet and the inner wrist are the places where it blurs fastest, and I usually talk people out of them.
Healing takes about two to four weeks on the surface, longer in the deeper layers. The full day-by-day picture is in the aftercare guide.
Who it suits
Who it suits
- You want a clean, quiet drawing that reads from a step away rather than across the room
- The motif is linear by nature: geometry, plants, lettering, an outline of a figure
- The place is forearm, upper arm, shoulder, collarbone, ribs or calf
- You are ready to give the piece the size the lines need
When I suggest something else
- The idea is really a photograph in skin: a face, fabric, a realistic hand or an animal
- You want it very small and very detailed at the same time
- The place is a finger, the side of a hand, a foot or the inner wrist
- You want colour: I do not work in colour at all

It depends on how much detail the motif carries. A simple symbol or a short word works from about 3–4 cm. A detailed scene at that size will not stay readable: the lines are too close and they merge as the skin ages. I would rather give you a different motif at a size that lasts than the one you asked for at a size that does not.
A small piece starts at 2,500 Kč, a medium one at 5,000 Kč, a large one at 7,500 Kč. What moves the price is the density of detail and the time at the machine, not the style name. The exact figure comes after the consultation, which is free.
Usually yes, because there is less passing over the same area, but the place matters more than the style. Ribs, inner arm, the area over bone and the neck are felt the most; the outer forearm, thigh and shoulder the least. There is a map by body area in the pain article.
It will widen a little. So spacing and size are decided in the sketch, before the machine is switched on, and I do not place thin work on fingers, hands and feet. Done at the right size and in the right place, the drawing keeps its character.
Yes, and that is often the best answer: line for the structure, shading for the volume that needs weight. One of my pieces is exactly that. There is a whole article on choosing between the two.
I draw every design for one person and never repeat it. There are also ready motifs on the flash page, which are drawn once and tattooed once.
